WHAT
The Scarborough
Citadel Band ministers musically during worship services here
at
Scarborough Citadel, as well as occasional special performances at
local events. It is a typical
Salvation
Army Band composed
of skilled Salvationist musicians lending their talents to the cause of
Christ.
This brass band format is composed of the following
brass
and percussion instrumentation: Cornet, Soprano Cornet, Flugel Horn,
Tenor Horn, Baritone, Trombone, Euphonium, Bass Trombone, E Flat Bass,
B Flat Bass, and various Percussion Pieces. |
WHO
All of the members of this band are either uniformed
Salvationists or
Adherents with a knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ and a
firm belief and commitment to the cause of furthering the gospel
through the musical ministry of the band. No one is paid for
their involvement, and in fact participates financially to the cause
yearly, but more importantly with their time. |
WHY
The official duties of the Band are to accompany the Sunday morning
meeting every week of the year. Besides that the band lends
its
support to various occasional events such as the Kettles Ministry at
Christmas time in local malls, monthly a small ensemble
assists
with a church service in a local retirement home, musical concerts
(musicales) at the corps, accompany a multi-denominational Easter
Sunday Morning service, occasional concerts and special events by
invitation, participation in the massed band of the Salvation Army in
the
Santa Claus Parade in Toronto, cemetery remebrence services, and more.
Every member believes that Salvation Army banding is a
ministry of the
church, used to bless listeners, and bring greater good to the body of
Christ.
